The Expendables 2 went straight to the #1 spot last weekend, earning $28.5M. The Bourne Legacy was pushed down into second place while ParaNorman took third place, bringing in $14. The Odd Life of Timothy Green took the #7 spot taking in $10.8M. Cosmopolis came in at the 45th spot earning $70,339, which although seems bad, is actually very good for a film that was only shown in three cinemas![1] Let’s see how they did and if they were worth the money!

The film Cosmopolis opens in U.S. theaters on Friday August 17th, 2012. The seductive trailers and amazing cast is reason enough to go see this film. But throw in David Cronenberg and Don DeLillo and you are in for a mind altering experience out of this world. However, for those venturing into the theaters without having read the book or seen any of Cronenberg’s films, Linked in Hollywood has put together a cheat sheet in case you want to brush up before or after seeing the film. Eric Packer, the central character in Don Delillo’s novella Cosmopolis, asks Didi (portrayed by actress Juliette Binoche) if he can purchase Rothko’s Chapel and all of the paintings inside. Why are the works of Mark Rothko central to this literary work and what do his paintings symbolize?
First, we should look at Mark Rothko, the man. Mark Rothko(Marcus Rothkowitz) was born on September,25 1903 in Dvinsk, Russia which is now Daugavpils, Latvia. When he was ten years old, he and his family immigrated to Oregon.
