Captain America: The First Avenger dominated the box office last weekend and with positive reviews by film critics and consumers, how will it do this weekend? Also, opening last weekend in wide release was Friends with Benefits we will see how film critic reviews measure up against consumer reviews on this film. Then let you know if it’s worth the money.

Captain America-Part 2:Future Anti-Communist Crusader?

Referring to the feature film opening July 24th, LIH has already discussed Captain America as a pseudo Holocaust hero.  Yet, this suggestion or attribution has never been made in the comic book series. Can we say this while overlooking other real world associations?  And isn’t this always possible when speaking of fictional heroes whose origins align with actual events? Other than Nazism or WWII isn’t it odd that so little is discussed about this character’s relationship to other politics of this period or after?  Though these revelations may not impact the success of the film, don’t we owe it to ourselves to discuss what the film Captain America: the First Avenger may not address?

If you have seen Director Joe Johnston’s recent trailers for Captain America: The First Avenger you no doubt recognize what a big a blockbuster Marvel Entertainment and Disney are planning for July 22, 2011.  Yet before marching off to the theatres to see actor Chris Evans’ portrayal of the character, you might want to consider what you’re going to see.  A super hero dressed up in patriotic colors in a WWII setting; what more is there to know?  The answer should be plenty.
