LIH Editorial: TWERKed up over recent Hollywood News

8 Sep

By LIH Staff

Weeks after receiving so many unappreciated articles from the Hollywood press, the surly fan diaspora is still trying to accept so much disquieting news.  For instance, even Hollywood studios with Jewish led studio heads like Louis B. Mayer were compliant with the Nazi’s [1]. Are you still horrified at what Dina Lohan does to her daughters, Lindsey and Ali [2]?  No one cares about his directing; so how can Ben Affleck be the new Batman[3]?!!!!  Here are some other controversies that don’t appear to be cooling.

  • “FIFTY SHADES OF GREY” ANGERS MANY FANS
  • KEENU REEVES RETURNS TO THE BIG SCREEN
  • STILL PISSED ABOUT MILEY’S VMA PERFORMANCE

‘FIFTY SHADES OF GREY’ CASTING ANGERS MANY FANS

Announcing that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would be cast as the book’s sexually adventurous (in some circles) couple [4]. Many fans took to the web to voice their intense disappointment.  And should we be surprised.  For all of the faux “Fifty Shades” trailers and videos on YouTube, how did these two get the nod?  Wasn’t Robert Pattinson going to change his mind, strip down, and “get busy?”

You might remember Charlie from “Sons of Anarchy”, “Pacific Rim”, or “The Ledge [5]”.  You might remember Dakota from “The Five-Year Engagement,” “21 Jump Street” or episodes of the “The Office.” [6] You’re right neither is an unknown, but why the two of them?

When is Hollywood going to get it?!!!! Hollywood is a democratic, interactive, and participatory culture that always appreciates the brainstorming of fanboys and girls.  Surely something went a wry with these choices, or better yet audiences have absolutely no idea what it takes to build and sustain careers in the American entertainment capital.

KEENU REEVES RETURNS TO THE BIG SCREEN:
Coming to a theatre near you, Keenu Reeves will be appearing in (don’t be confused) count two martial arts movies. According to IMDB the “Man of Tai Chi” is described as….

A young martial artist’s unparalleled Tai Chi skills land him in a highly lucrative underworld fight club.” [1]

Reeves other film,  “47 Ronin” is describe this way by IMDB:

A band of samurai set out to avenge the death and dishonor of their master at the hands of a ruthless shogun.” [2]

The last time most of us probably saw Mr. Reeves was in the “Matrix franchise” and for those who did not know it; ethnically he is half Asian.  Accordingly before any one thinks to make any comments about him regarding familiar territory, lets try to consider how difficult it might be to cover new ground when you have managed to survive as long as he has in the entertainment capitol.  Or we could say; given our recent experience with the actor, what a consistent and dynamic set of new films?  Many ticket buyers will likely wait for the reviews of the two films.

STILL PISSED ABOUT MILEY’S VMA PERFORMANCE

Who would have thought anyone would still be angry about actress/musician Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance of three weeks ago.  Yet many are still climbing the walls.   Video commentary is still streaming in; parodies, critiques, sharks and other remarks are still flooding in.

Three days ago, CNN claimed:

Miley Cyrus has a message for the haters: You are over thinking it.” []

But she also said

We intended to make history.”  []

The inventor of the foam finger that she used as a performance accessory has rejected it’s presentation and has called it “degrading.” []

Was her lack of identification with middle American “white” values still appalling?  Was the whole performance actually racist?  And why is she and Alan Thicke so vulgar?

    Hahaha! I like this editorial.

In terms of 50? These fans upset over casting should be upset its getting made. I mean its embarrassing to see overly obsessive fans upset over casting and not that their being exploited for their poor taste and values.

Miley Cyrus? Yeah! Nothing new, she’s been doing this forever. It looks like people have had their fill of low-brow gimmicks. Maybe that’s a good sign.

      OB,

glad you liked the editorial. Being that it was an editorial, there wasn’t a whole lot of room to be extremely explicit. I thought the “hollywood take-two style” of review best supported a review of hollywood tabloid type stories. See below for more details.
