LIH Editorial: 10/8-10/14

Welcome back new and returning readers for another week at LIH!

Last week, if you didn’t catch it, President Obama and Governor Romney had their first live debate.  One of the biggest concerns to come from the debate was Romney’s comment about PBS and it’s funding. Most of us grew up with Big Bird, Oscar, Bert and Ernie, Maria and Luis, Gordon, and the rest of the Sesame Street Gang.  Of course now there have been a few changes throughout the years, but it still has the same wonderful feel with great learning and guest appearances by TV/Film stars.  Hopefully Sesame Street will be around for another 43 years.

Can you name the following Sesame Street characters? (We’re going old school here!)

1.

Obscure Muppet trivia from the TV show. This might be difficult even if you watch a lot of Sesame Street (and you’re claiming old school). O.K. Lb here goes one guess; I believe the first muppet is….

    1. Forgetful Jones

Frequently performed by Michael Earl Davis (1979-81) and Richard Hunt (1981-92)

I think number 2. is pretty hard. I think you first have to distinguish what species he belongs to. Different from the Monster species that Cookie monster and Oscar the Grouch belong to (multiple colored yet nose-less yet fuzzy), there could be millions of the Grover like monsters (multiple colored with noses and fuzzy).

This is really hard so I will come back to this later.

I love how u are dividing them into species!!!

    The last Muppet is…

    4. Prairie Dawn

    Frequently performed by Fran Brill

    LB,

    1) Forgetful Jones 2) Telly 3) Guy Smiley 4) Prairie Dawn

Can you tell what I watched when I was younger?

    • littlebells October 8, 2012 at 5:14 PM #

Oh man!!! I’m impressed. Guy smiley was my favorite. I’m working on your prize and CRs winnings. 🙂

    • Comic Relief October 9, 2012 at 3:57 AM #

Well sister, why not just take the prize! HAHAHAHAHA

I guess we could all bone up on our Sesame Street. I did not realize Telly was as contemporary as Elmo. Go figure.

I wondered if Telly was Louis (Elmo’s dad) but he seems to have hair and seems to always be fully dressed. This may be a new monster trait I was not familiar with. I did not realize it but even Sesame Street matures.

        • Comic Relief October 13, 2012 at 12:03 AM #

          Wow,

I’m so honored. Honestly if I saw them in my room I wouldn’t know what to do. Try them on or beat them with a hammer?

Yet ultimately it’s the thought that really counts. So thanks for such unprecedented and thoroughly unique foot wear, I haven’t been this flattered by a priceless gift in a very very long time!!!!!

          • littlebells October 13, 2012 at 12:47 AM #

The Flashlight Glove? I think its a wonderful tool for cave diving. Paris are u up for this? No pressure. Hahahahahaha!

This is how I learned to count to 12 before Kindergarden. This was one of my favorites:

    Other favorites:

Tell me you didn’t sing along when you heard any of these songs. 🙂

I’ll admit that although I enjoy SS and watching it with my children, I miss some of these “old time” episodes and songs.

    • Open Book October 11, 2012 at 8:40 AM #

I did sing along LB….. How can u resist? LOL!!
