CHRISTOPHER NOLAN: MESSAGE TO AURORA
“Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community. I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theater is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families.”
MICHAEL MOORE: STATEMENT ABOUT AURORA SHOOTING
“Having spent much time in the Aurora/Denver/Littleton area over the
years, I am too sad about this most recent tragedy to comment
at the moment, other than to say this:
“I fear anthropologists and historians will look back on us and simply
say we were a violent nation, at home and abroad, but in due time
human decency won out and the violence ceased, but not before
many, many more died and the world had had its fill of us.
“Thoughts, prayers, and whatever comfort can be found for the victims
and their families…” – Michael Moore
MOVIE THEATERS BEEF UP SECURITY
I’ve been crying all morning reading about the victims. It is a testament to how we need to build a strong spiritual foundation and have a positive connection to the world.
I also wanted to add how we have no idea how we are going to leave this world. We need to actively strive to be our best each day and cast our fear aside.
As for security, I think we should have it increased where we are protected but we don’t feel caged in.
