Hollywood Take 2: The Top Filming Locations

30 Dec

This is where we take a second look at the Top 5 happening stories in Hollywood this week and ask you to discuss them. One of the interesting stories circulating this week are the Top 10 preferred filming locations in the Universe.

First Take: According to P3Update.com California is still the preferred filming location despite some stiff competition. The article  The Top 10 Locations in the Universe written by Johan Kharabi states,

  • “The list of this year’s top worldwide locations demonstrates just how big of a comeback the United States has made. Classic favorites like California and New York are once again attracting production, while newer contenders like Georgia and North Carolina are making an on-screen name for themselves.”

Second Take: According to Deadline.com Cheetah the chimpanzee from Tarzan died on Christmas Eve. He starred in all the Tarzan films from the 1930’s. He was 80’s years old.

Third Take: The Box Office numbers over the Christmas holiday’s did better than expected due to Mission Impossible/Ghost Protocol. According to boxofficemojo.com  M:I franchise’s did $94M domestic and $179M overseas.

Fourth Take: The Iron Lady is rubbing some film critics the wrong way according to ThompsonHollywood.com. What looked to be another Oscar nomination for Meryl Streep in this biopic of Margaret Thatcher might be a little tougher campaign this year. Here’s what the New York Times had to say,

  • makes a particular hash of British history, compressing social and economic turmoil into a shorthand that resembles a chronologically scrambled British version of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire.

Fifth Take: Ahh! It’s that time of year where we look back and re-count how far we’ve come. After looking at countless sites I felt ThePlaylist.com had the most interesting article entitled “2011 By The Numbers: The Year In Box-Office Flops.” We tend to agree Green Lantern was a flop. What do you think was the biggest flop this year and why?

I absolutely agree. Connecticut is likely since I have friends there; yet I wouldn’t never turn down a visit to New Zealand (if the opportunity presented itself).
