Top 5 Summer Movie Stinkers

16 Jul

By Open Book

We are mid-way through the summer, and although there have been some great films released so far, there’s been a lot of stinkers as well.  So we would like to take the time to list the Top 5 summer movie stinkers.   Then ask you to add to the list.

The summer film season starts in May and ends in early September.  But I will only select films between May and end in July because I think there’s been quite enough stinker’s to make this list. So let’s begin!

Top 5 Biggest Summer Movie Stinkers!

May

1.    Priest– This film is on the list because vampires are being overworked in Hollywood. Also, it was in 3-D and guilty of being all style and no substance.  It was loud and clear they ripped off Mad Max, Blade and a few others and tried to sell it as original. Yuck!

2.     The Hangover: Part 2-The reason this film makes the stinkers list because it was a highly anticipated by audiences. Only for it to be a big dissapointment and rehash of the first film.  In the end it made the audience feel like suckers for seeing it!

June

3.       Green LanternThis film is on my list because I really had high hopes for it. I guess we now know the impact of having too many hands in the cookie jar and too much money.  This film made me cringe for a few weeks when seeing the color green.

4.      Transformers: Dark of the MoonAgain a lot of hype only to be a big, big, big, big, wad of twisted metal and junk. Need I say more!

July

5.       ZookeeperTalking animals in films should be banned for good.  This films juvenile storyline is way too stupid for kids. It’s fallen so low in rank and its only in its second week, the 80 million budget I doubt will be made back. For all these reasons and more I think this film is the biggest stinker for July.

What is your biggest 2011 summer movie stinker?

Well I am guilty for going to see 2 of the 5. But no money out of my pocket. So, I am still ahead. Will save my money for the Fall/Christmas influx.
Hoping to see Harry Potter this weekend….

      Francesa-

Are u going to leave me out there all alone by not naming the 2 films u saw on the list? I know Transformers was one but what is the other? Are u trying to erase the whole experience from your psyche! I understand I’m trying to do that as well. LOL!!

Nice to see u and hope u are well!!

I’m guilty of seeing 1 and I made it out alive! LOL My psyche is still being punished. On the upside I’ve seen Harry Potter. I LOVED IT!
