Yay! Someone picked Thor! It was a tie for Thor and SB. 🙂

  2. Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 2:56 PM #

Alright, i admit it: I haven’t seen either film. 😦

    • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:10 PM #

LOL! That’s o.k. u don’t have to see the films to participate in the discussion.

Welcome everyone to the debate today. Please feel free to jump in if u have any Q or answers.

  3. Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:11 PM #

I will be moderating today and asking Q but u can ask Q as well.

First Q: What film did u see and describe the audience at the theater where you saw the film.

    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:23 PM #

Which one did you see, OB?

      • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:24 PM #

            Hello to all!

    • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 3:36 PM #

I went to see Fast 5 today. It was the 2pm showing. I was surprised to see it atleast a third full as it was released 9 days ago. It was mostly teenages about mid to late teens. Quite a few young couples in their early twenties and about 3 adults.

      • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:39 PM #

How did the audience respond to the film?

        • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 3:44 PM #

They liked it. Alot of chatter, oows, ahhs and jumping during the action parts. Ofcorse there was laughter at the parts that were meant to be funny.

  4. Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:24 PM #

Well I will start out I saw Hoodwinked Too and the audience was non existent. There were only three people in the theater including myself. All were adults two females and one male. We all look like we came alone. LOL!!

    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:26 PM #

What time did you go? I’m assuming if it was during the day it’s because kids are in school.

    • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:26 PM #

What time of the day did you go?

      • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:28 PM #

        jinx!

        • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:30 PM #

          LOL

I went in the afternoon around 2:30 yesterday.

  5. parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:25 PM #

    LOL.

    • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:27 PM #

It felt so odd. I thought these all must be film critics because what on earth would they be doing here in the afternoon. Seeing a film like this without any children. LOL!!

      • Lurker April 30, 2011 at 3:29 PM #

I bet the Saturday crowd will be different!

Although it’s pretty where I am and everyone is out.
        The weekend traffic is horrible.

        • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:37 PM #

Yes! I’m sure kids will be attracted to it but there’s not enough going on to keep a children’s interest.

          • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:41 PM #

What’s the basic story about? Little Red teams up with the wolf and they have an adventure?

  6. Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:27 PM #

Ok, I’m running to the grocery store but I will be RIGHT BACK!!!

    • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:29 PM #

      O.k. well be here.

  7. parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:31 PM #

As far as storyline went, what did you think of the film? Did it flow or was it slow in places?

    • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:35 PM #

Well it really was terrible. One person I think walked out in the middle of it.

U did not care enough about the characters to want to cheer for them. I kept looking at my phone.

      • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:38 PM #

I’m sure they didn’t invest to much time into it because the film is geared toward children and children don’t care about investing in people or having something worthwile. Film makers forget about the parents that have to BRING THE CHILDREN TO THE THEATER. So children’s film, IMO should have some investment.

        • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:43 PM #

SO TRUE! ITA…. This film was not funny, clever or unpredictable. Which is what u need to keep a child interested and parents willing to tolerate sitting through it.

          • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:48 PM #

The one thing i hate the most about kids films these days is they are filled with sexual jokes that are geared toward adults but goes over the kids head. I’m not a parent but i don’t want to have to explain what things mean when they ask. (If they are to young to understand it)

            • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:51 PM #

I agree with all of you. And why do jokes always have to be sexual? Argh.

              • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:53 PM #

I’m sure men make these movies and that’s all they think about. LOL

      • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:39 PM #

Did you stay through the entire film?

      • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 3:41 PM #

Fast 5 was slow and confusing at the beginning. That maybe because I’ve only seen the first one. It picked up once the action got going then seemed to stop and start toward the end. That may have been due to the theatre being noisy so it was hard to be completely obsorbed into the film.

        • Lurker April 30, 2011 at 3:44 PM #

I’ve seen all of them in the franchise, (multiple times). So I’m looking forward to seeing Fast Five tonight.

          • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 3:46 PM #

I hope you have better fellow viewers than I did! 🙂

        • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:48 PM #

I have only seen one of them. I was interested in seeing it but it looks too cheesy. Fast 5 reminds of the SNL skit about tough guys who don’t turn around and look at explosions. Let me see if I can find it.

          • Lurker April 30, 2011 at 3:50 PM #

Yeah, you have to remember the age of the male member of my household. Its on whenever it’s on TV!
Its all about the cars anyway. There is no focus on the plot.

          • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:53 PM #

hahaha! I remember that and don’t forget Will Farrell makes a comment about that as well in The Other Guys. 🙂

Fast 5 didn’t interest me because I’m not a huge fan of the franchise. I think there is more action than dialogue and storyline.

  8. parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:36 PM #

LOL. Thats really bad then. I’ve just changed my pick of film.

    • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:38 PM #

      • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:39 PM #

LOL ok i will. I’ll probably be the only person in the theater.

      • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:50 PM #

LOL I just checked my local theater and they only have one showtime for the regular version. 11:30 in the morning to be exact.

            • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 3:55 PM #

That would make it 4X for me. Rob sounds like Brad Pitt. At least to me he does. Did anyone else notice that?

                  • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:02 PM #

LOL. Pitt. We all remember him from the Pre-Rob days. 🙂

                    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:09 PM #

Oh I KNOW who you are talking about! Since Rob, he’s fallen off my radar. haha!

                    • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:13 PM #

Since he has god knows how many kids and just want to seem to keep himself up. He’s fallen off mine.

              • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:00 PM #

Dude, I’m apparently not pulling my WFE weight. I’ve only seen it twice. I just have to figure out when, when, when!!!!

                • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:04 PM #

I noticed more and more each time I went like for example, they had horrible lighting above the door in the hotel scene. Also Reese had bruises the first time Rob went to the state-car

                  • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:06 PM #

I would love to be hired to watch for consistency. That would be a blast imo!

                    • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:08 PM #

LOL. Actually seeing the same film over and over again gets boring.

                    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:10 PM #

haha! Yeah, but I’m weird, remember?

                  • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:10 PM #

Another inconsistency i missed. When Rob and August are talking about Silver Star. Rob says ” I didn’t want to say anything in front of Mrs. Rosenbluth.” He never was told August’s last name. How did he know it?

                    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:11 PM #

                      YES! Good catch!

    Ozzie-

What did u think about the dialogue in the film?

    • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:05 PM #

It was ok. There were quite a few funny parts. A bit of cliched lines here and there but it wasn’t that bad.

      • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:10 PM #

        Ozzie-

Did Fast 5 remind u of the SNL skit I posted below. Did the film have any resemblance to the video?

        • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:24 PM #

Umm, sort of. The main cheesy parts were the conversations about families. Families stick together, ect.

  11. Open Book April 30, 2011 at 3:56 PM #

Here’s the SNL Skit in celebration of Fast 5. LOL!

That is just…I FREAKIN’ LOVE IT!!! And Neil Diamond!!! And JJ Abrams on keyboard!!! hahahahaha!!!! 🙂 I’m dying over here!!!

I was thinking of something else and this far exceeds my expectations!

  12. Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 3:57 PM #

So OB, what star rating would you give Hoodwinked Too! ?

Ozzie what would your star rating be for Fast 5?

    • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:06 PM #

Three. Could of been a four if I could of properly watched it.

      • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:13 PM #

Hmmm…I’ll have to watch it on DVD. I’m sure the hubs would go for it.

  13. Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:00 PM #

On a scale of 1 to 5 I would say a 1-It’s not worth the money to see in theaters. Do u know they had a bout four writers writing for this film?

    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:02 PM #

Say whuuu? For reals? Wow. That’s just…REALLY???

      • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:05 PM #

Yes! I was shocked as well. This film really suffered from an uninteresting plot, annoying fairy tale characters, and unoriginal jokes.

    • parisienne April 30, 2011 at 4:05 PM #

Those 4 people were not using their brains.

      • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:12 PM #

  14. Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:04 PM #

    Ozzie-

What did you think of the climax of the film? Did it work well or was it too confusing and quick?

    • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:17 PM #

I’ll try my hardest here to not put up to many spoilers!

As soon as the heist at the end began, I knew they had switched it somehow. It was good because of a line “you have 10 seconds” was said and you assume its the time when the police catch up but it wasn’t. The switch also wasn’t my first guess but my second so that was a mild surprise!

The only problem with the end is when you see the characters go their seperate ways. I’d of liked to seen more of each as it tends to show a bit but then stops and switches to the next without finishing it off. My biggest complaint with the ending was of the main characters sub-plots. With brian and Mia, I didn’t care at all and with Dominic it’s confusing how he hooked up with the girl at the end.

Once again though this could be because I’ve never seen the last three and the people in the theatre were very distracting, making it hard to get into and follow along.

      • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:20 PM #

Did it seems like they just threw the ending together?

        • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:26 PM #

A little bit. With a tiny bit more added on to each character’s happy ever after scene would make it feel more complete.

          • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:28 PM #

I hate rushed endings. I’m too lazy to scroll up, but what was the age of those predominantly in your theater? And was it mostly dudes?

      • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:30 PM #

Would u see this film again in theaters?

        • ozzie20 April 30, 2011 at 4:41 PM #

I would like to go and see it again but only because I was disturbed so much by what was happening around me. Had I been able to watch it in peace and quiet, I probably would of liked it more, understand what was happeing and felt more for the characters. Unfortunately it didn’t happen and I nearly walked out not because of the movie but because my patience was wearing thin.

  15. Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:15 PM #

    Open Book,

what would you consider a great animation for children that adults loved as well?

    • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:19 PM #

I love all the Shrek movies, Monsters Inc., and The Incredibles. *one kid shy of dressing up for Halloween*

My all time favorite is Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Monster’s Inc. and ANTZ.

In terms of what’s out now? Rio is good.

      • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:20 PM #

haha! Great minds! Yes, Finding Nemo was great. Now, what is it about the humor that made these so much better????

        • Open Book April 30, 2011 at 4:25 PM #

Well one they all had a plot. LOL!!

Seriously? I would say they really developed the characters individual motives and reasons for existing.

          • Littlebells April 30, 2011 at 4:27 PM #

That makes sense. Plus, I think great laughs come from situations or statements that most of us have at one point did, thought or said. I can’t remember dialogue from any of these films, but I know that the humor wasn’t sexual and it was FUNNY!

I would recomend seeing Fast 5 at the cinema. It’s good to see all the stunts on a big screen with a great sound system. I would only see it the once though and then wait for it to come out on DVD.
