The Forces Within Us

By: Parisienne

Are they? Aren’t they?  No matter how hard consumers try, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart continue to evade their million-dollar question.  This question along with photos and “inside sources” have sane consumers turning on each other.  Robstens, some call themselves and others call themselves Nonstens.  What is it about this franchise that has these devotees hating each other?  Think with me here just for a minute…. if one were to take a “step out of the box” that person would see how crazy and downright ludicrous this entire “marketing ploy” has become.  Is the public so hungry for a real life romance that they follow others so blindly as not to question anything?  Or are we so wrapped up in the illusions of two characters that never have and never will exist?

Are we not taught to think for ourselves?  IMO, this entire “game” has ruined a beautiful saga.  IMO, I would say this hating and fighting with each other is not what Stephenie had in mind when she first put pen to paper.

In all honesty, this nonsense does not mean anything when there are people dying and fighting for their country.  It’s a movie for God’s sake.  Get. Over. It.

    Hi!

    I’m here.

  2. lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:08 PM #

I am truly surprised the drama has lasted so long. However, I think there is a smaller group of fanatics that keep this alive than we all suspect.

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:25 PM #

At least some of them have stepped up and gotten past the us vs them thing.

  3. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:09 PM #

    I agree.

  4. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:11 PM #

IMO, the people that keep this going are KS fans. Normal people wouldn’t do this.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:13 PM #

I agree and think they have an unhealthy attachment as fans. They do not know how to break away and return to a normal life. Maybe they never had one.

  5. Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:13 PM #

It has gotten worse in the last few weeks with Robsten fans. Why do u think that is?

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:15 PM #

I seriously think its only KS fans.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:16 PM #

In what way gotten worse? I think I may have missed something.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:17 PM #

Did you get the e-mail i sent about that lady at SRP? Her house burnt down she lost everything. Robstens are saying its karma for not believing in RP/KS being together.

        • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:19 PM #

I did, although I didn’t realize that it was so overdramatized by the Robstens. Wow.

      • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:22 PM #

Sorry Lurker!! I was referring to the callous response from fans over the women who’s house got burnt down.

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:16 PM #

Also I think they don’t want to know the truth but its staring them in the face so badly that they rebel against it.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:21 PM #

They have their own version of the truth and they will be the sorrier for not having an open mind. Its sad that we can’t even say that these are young teenagers and explain it away as such.

        • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:23 PM #

Yeah i know. I hope everyone involved with Twilight has a good exit strategy.

        • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:24 PM #

Why though do you think middle age women get carried away as they do?

          • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:29 PM #

I think it’s due to people using social media to stir-up frenzy by finding other like minded people who support there obsession.

            • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:32 PM #

yeah but everyone uses social media. Don’t you think that most people would be able to think for themselves though?

              • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:36 PM #

Some people fall victim to the ‘group think’. And it over takes them.

                • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:38 PM #

I agree. but they LET IT overtake them.

                  • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:41 PM #

I agree they aren’t strong enough to walk away step back on their own or they don’t desire to step back. Who really knows what drives them to this obsessiveness? I surely don’t.

                    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:47 PM #

The one thing, ok two things i can think of. They want E/B story to be real so badly that they transferred their wants onto R/K. However, the mentality of the people was never taken into consideration. They are just messing with children’s heads its adults too.

Second, they can’t handle the fact that their “idols” ok only one…K. treats them like crap.

              • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:39 PM #

Yes!! U hope people are mature enough to think for themselves or know how to express themselves without resorting to threats if someone disagrees or have a different opinion. However, these sites like E! and Gossip Cop seem to perpetuate and stir up contention between the two sides to get hits for their sites.

                • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:42 PM #

Don’t get me started on E!/Ted. He hopped on the shipper train just to get hits for his column which was on its way out the door. Does he even talk about other celebs anymore?

                  • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:43 PM #

i don’t think so. He’s so mean to Rob.

                • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:42 PM #

They don’t care what happens at the end of it as long as they got their $$$$ out of it.

                  • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:44 PM #

So true. There are no repercussions for E! or Gossip Cop stirring the drama.

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:24 PM #

I agree!! Lack of openness or awareness.

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:26 PM #

I’ve noticed that most shippers are Kristen fans first and foremost. They are pretty quick to throw Rob under the bus whenever it suits them.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:29 PM #

The one thing i noticed about KS fans are that they share her mentality. She makes fun of them and they don’t see it.

  6. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:14 PM #

I don’t think they do. To put that much energy into a person who does not seem to have a healthy attachment to her reality herself is just crazy.

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:27 PM #

And Kristen does not even seem to like or want her fans. Most celebs realize that is who buys movie tickets, CDs, DVDs, concert tickets, etc.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:28 PM #

        4string,

I agree. she is not grateful for what she has.

  7. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:27 PM #

Do you think if KS or RP had someone close to them drop hints about the truth they would get in trouble? If i was in their shoes, I’d try something like that.

    • kim February 2, 2011 at 7:33 PM #

That’s what I would do. I would be looking for loopholes in my contract to get the truth out there. I believe that this whole relationship is part of their contracts.

      • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:48 PM #

I always wondered if they would have a family member or friend drop hints since they are not under contract like the star is. However, I can understand them not wanting to jeopardize their friend’s career.

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 9:22 PM #

          4string!

I agree!!! Also, u have the friends and family of R/K’s being targeted and slandered by their fans. Not good!!!

          • Littlebells February 4, 2011 at 1:51 AM #

I would love to be a fly on the wall when all the Pattinson’s are in one room. I can’t even imagine what they must think of all this!

            • Parisienne February 4, 2011 at 5:08 PM #

LOL! I throughly agree. I don’t think they like it very much, IMO. They seem to be a very personal, close knit family. I’m glad that Rob has such a good support system.

  8. kim February 2, 2011 at 7:29 PM #

    Hi ladies,

yeah I hope that there is a safe exit strategy for this mess. I have a feeling that Rob is going to be the fall guy though. It just seems like that the battle lines are set up as ks/summit/robsten fans vs rob/nonsten fans. Most robsten fans seem to be ks fans and most nonsten fans are rob fans.

I also think these radicals that say nasty things about people that don’t agree (mostly its the robsten fans) that say nasty things about or in regards to nonsten/rob fans.

I personally am a Rob fan and don’t believe that there is anything going on btwn rob and ks, they are just co-workers doing their jobs.

    • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 7:31 PM #

      Well said!!

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:32 PM #

      I agree!

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:33 PM #

I have a sinking feeling that the PR/media people are going to make Rob the bad guy even though they (IMO) were never together. It would be easy to come out and say, “Hey! We never said we were together and guess what? We never were.” It would be most effective coming from Kristen (shippers are more ardently K fans) and making neither the bad guy. It seems that the two stopped denying anything because it always fell on deaf ears and no one would believe them anyway or Summit wanted to milk the cash cow that could be sucked from this sort of publicity.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:36 PM #

IMO, i don’t think a statement will do the trick. You are right. They have both stated it many times and no one believes them. So how do they get people to believe them?

        • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:40 PM #

Sadly, there’s only so much they can do. Whenever either one does an interview and gets asked the question (you know they will), they can say it never happened and it was all assumption.

          • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:48 PM #

That’s true or try to steer clear of it all together..like R did at the GG.

            • kim February 2, 2011 at 8:01 PM #

I have to say I was very proud of Rob at GG when he did not go to some of these people who treat him terribly in the press (E!). I hope he does the same thing for Mtv and any others that keep treating him like this. Especially as he keeps getting in more and more films.

Well I hope R never does another interview with AT/TC. TC is and has always been against R and for K because her fans are his bread and butter.

However R has some smart folks working for him and they are doing a great job combating the people trying to set R up to take the fall.

I just find it hard to believe that people are so dumb.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:38 PM #

I think it’s that they are easily led. Whether they are dumb or just ‘go with the flow’. They don’t seek out or desire to investigate for themselves. Its easy to believe what others tell you if you find it plausible.

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:39 PM #

Sadly, a lot of the gen pop believes whatever the media/tabloids want them to believe. 😦 My bachelor’s and master’s degrees are in journalism & communication. It makes me weep.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:50 PM #

I think what passes as news today is not news. Its drama and gossip relayed and pretending to be news. Maybe it’s the oversaturation of media that they need to fill the air. The amount of copy/paste I see is incredible. It’s masquerading as journalism when in fact, it’s not.

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:06 PM #

It’s not just journalism this lack of research occurs, this copy and paste mentality is happening in art, music, literature film etc…. Producers are just trying to satisfy the publics insatiable appetite for excess. So all the quality has gone out the window in favor of quantity. We can probably thank Wal-Mart for that. LOL!!!

          • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:08 PM #

            Thank you Walmart! LOL 🙂

          • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:11 PM #

Do you think that’s a play on our need for ‘instant’ news…that technology advancements have fueled this instant everything and excess?

            • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:16 PM #

Yes. I also think though that people have become lazy in a sense that what’s real news and what isn’t no longer matter.

              • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:18 PM #

That is a very interesting thought.

            • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:24 PM #

Yes! Absolutely, this is why Cosmopolis is such a great book. Delillo really captures the insanity of consumers relationship with technology at it’s formidable stages. I think consumers are still trying to catch up and are still trying to figure out what to do and where to fit in, in a lot of ways.

      • kim February 2, 2011 at 7:50 PM #

Oh I’m there with you on journalism today. It just really upsets me that from a historical perspective that history is going to be really screwed up for the future.

        • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:55 PM #

Well get this thought, if you do source searches 10 years from now, how many internet sites are going to be considered ‘reliable information’. How are we going to tell what is reputable news and the truth?
Even the major cable news providers have their own slant. So there truly isn’t an unbiased news source any longer. Makes me furious.

          • kim February 2, 2011 at 8:05 PM #

Actually, this has been going on for awhile, not just recently.

            • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:09 PM #

I know it was just so blatent recently – i mean in your face. I was walking around the house shaking my head! I would consider myself a first amendment supporter. However, the media has really begun to make news more so than report on events. I know I say that and it sounds like rhetoric however, let me give you an example. When Piers Morgan a ‘talk show host’ interviews another “talk show host” (oprah) isn’t that creating news. Is that really news worthy? I don’t know it leaves me with a question lately about ‘what is news’?

              • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:11 PM #

I couldn’t believe he asked her on t.v. to state how much she is worth. That’s such poor form. i mean did he really think she was going to say “oh yeah i’m worth billions of dollars.” Did you notice she was bored after that?

                • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:21 PM #

Why didn’t he just check Forbes? LOL
I didn’t see the interview actually, but saw the adverts for it.

                  • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:25 PM #

He did. He said something like “I heard you are worth 2.2 billion. is that true.”

Let me fill you in on a few details about Piers Morgan!

He’s the former editior for the tabloids News of the World and The Daily Mirror. Both of these newspapers have a low standard of journalism and are sued regulary. They are more interested in sensationalism and celebrity gossip than real reporting.

Piers was fired from The Mirror in 2004 for authorising fake “torture” photos to be printed with out carrying out full research to see if they were real or fake. He’s never worked in major newspapers since.

He moved into TV but kind of failed so he went to America and got work as you will obviously know on America’s got talent. Then as his reputation grow, he came back to do some more tv work in the uk, which was kind of a success. However he still hasn’t managed to shake of his shady past.

How he managed to take over Larry King, I’ll never know! So he’s only been doing this “serious” stuff that last few years. He still provokes celebrities to this day. I see this move as a way to rebrand himself but with that question to Oprah it seems his old self is still lurking there.

He’s an arrogant, self-centered joke and if I were famous I’d avoid him.

A lot of this shipper craziness makes me think of psycho fans. In one way, I don’t blame Rob or Kristen from letting people think whatever. Didn’t Nikki get death threats from merely being his friend? This sort of thing makes me want to observe a moment of silence for Rebecca Schaeffer.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:47 PM #

I think the drama and the folks floating these threats or drama filled posts, just don’t care about what they say. There is a level of being removed from the situation because it’s not real life – it’s via a computer and not real people. Thus the lack of civility is rampant.

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:50 PM #

OMG i completely agree. Did NR get death threats for just being his friend? I didn’t know that.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:50 PM #

Yes I think I heard that too.

      • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:54 PM #

I thought she did and she had to move to a gated community. I don’t follow these things very closely, but I think that he left his old BMW at her place so he had a place to park it since he doesn’t have a residence in the US and the shippers freaked out.

        • 4string February 2, 2011 at 7:57 PM #

Regardless if it was ever romantic between them (it’s none of my biz), it screams of just helping out a friend in need.

  11. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 7:51 PM #

Also i think that people like to be in other people’s business.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 7:53 PM #

I think the social media aspect plays into our nature of being curious. It used to be the old ladies in the neighborhood and at church who knew everything. Now it’s available on the internet and on all of the 100’s of websites and tv news channels who need material.

Here’s something else to ponder… are other fandoms this rabid? The Twilight fandom is the first (& now probably last) I’ll ever get involved with to a certain degree. It’s relatively new to me. I hear that there were hard core Leo/Kate shippers around Titanic time, but message boards and bloggers weren’t as rampant. Is this the norm? I can’t imagine it is.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:16 PM #

We discovered a blog a few months back that was written by someone who was a hardcore fan of Barry Manilow (i think that was it) Anyway, yes! There are other fandoms crazy like this. However, I think the technology (twitter, blogs) wasn’t around then so there wasn’t as much news circulating. But their enthusiasm was just as bad.

      • Littlebells February 4, 2011 at 1:58 AM #

Ok girls, I’m still trying to keep up with you. 🙂 I find it all humorous that fans are so nuts over characters andpeople they don’t even KNOW!! I mean, really? I can only assume (again ASSUMING. NOT SAYING THIS IS SO) that these types of fans have nothing better going on in their life. Can’t they just enjoy the actor and the talent for what it’s worth? Oy vey.

        • Parisienne February 4, 2011 at 6:17 PM #

Its not that they don’t have a life. IMO their mentality is what drive its. I’ve come across some women one in her 20’s and the other in her 40’s that honestly believe they are together (R/K) The one thing I noticed about both of them was a lack of maturity or sense of being able to tell reality from fantasy was diminished.

      • Littlebells February 4, 2011 at 2:00 AM #

Ok, let me correct part of my statement. I think it’s fine to be interested and get a little crazy over your favorite characters and films. But when it comes to backbiting and tearing people down? That’s the stupid part.

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:21 PM #

I don’t know. I don’t remember much of anything about Leo/Kate but then again i never payed that much attention to it. This is the first fandom i’ve been following closely as well.

      • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:40 PM #

I think it’s a comparison between women fandom and male fandom. They react differently both are obsessive but they handle it differently. IMO!!

        • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:43 PM #

Yeah have you ever seen photos from Dragon Con?
I have never been but they have hosted here in ATL a few times. Choked up traffic and made the news for the most outrageous costumes.

    • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:38 PM #

U have not been to any comic book sites have u? It’s pretty intense but the fans are predominantly male some women. However, they are really well versed in film, comics and superhero’s it’s quite impressive. Oh! They can debate really well without it resorting to stalking and name calling. LOL!! The name calling does happen but not to the degree or grand scale I have seen with Twilight fans.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:40 PM #

That’s it. I’m going to hang with the men then!
I’ll find the Wonder Woman site….
        lol

        • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:45 PM #

LOL! Can I be SuperGirl???? i loved that movie. 🙂

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:47 PM #

Well there is this little group of men who are into comic porn!! LOL!! That’s a whole other subject I don’t care to get into..

          • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:49 PM #

Ok don’t get that – but I am forewarned it exists now.

          • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:52 PM #

LOL!!!!!!!!! Hey anything works for a man.

            • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:54 PM #

              LOL!!! Very active imagination perhaps!!

              • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:56 PM #

                LOL! true.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:41 PM #

No. I’ve never been to a comic book site. I’ll have to check one out sometime. i did go one to RP site (role playing) but found it confusing.

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 8:51 PM #

Here is a good one I frequent.

That’s a cool site! I like the Jurassic Park comic. 🙂

          • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:58 PM #

I always wonder when we might cross paths with a couple of those people – axiomlt and satre bleu. They were pretty funny they might enjoy our banter.

            • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:01 PM #

I think they have been too traumatized…lol

          • lurker February 2, 2011 at 9:00 PM #

Hey there’s some pretty funny comments about the Superman movie casting. One priceless one to share…

“…They were serious about considering her? Oh god, did we dodge a bullet. “

            • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:02 PM #

LOL!!!!!!!!!! ZS said she wasted his time. 🙂

  14. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:23 PM #

Look at the LOTR trilogy. Did anything this crazy happen with them?

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:25 PM #

I didn’t follow LOTR to be honest.

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:27 PM #

OMG my dad flipped out when they hired Liv Tyler. She didn’t look like the character she portrayed.

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:31 PM #

Though there are ardent fans of LotR, I don’t think they shipped any of the actors which would make it different from this fandom. I wonder if when the Hunger Games movie comes out, it will be like this?

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:34 PM #

I haven’t heard anything about the Hunger Games. Although i do think that the studio has something to do with it too.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:35 PM #

Haven’t read the Hunger Games. Is there a love triangle involved in the story too?

        • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:40 PM #

With THG, the romance isn’t the primary factor like it is with Twilight (THG is more about survival in a post-apocalyptic type world), but there is a small love triangle of Katniss (the heroine) and her old friend Gale and Peeta.

          • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:44 PM #

            who wrote THG?

            • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:47 PM #

Suzanne Collins. It’s a trilogy that just wrapped up. It’s addictive like Twilight (Meyer raved about it on her site apparently), but very different in tone. It’s almost like The Lottery meets Brave New World meets Twilight. Sounds crazy, I know. 😉

              • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:48 PM #

If you like the Hunger Games series, Matched by Ally Condie is a good one. I think I read it in a day. The next book comes out some time this year.

              • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:48 PM #

Is it very climatic? That’s the only thing i didn’t like about Twilight. No climax. I didn’t like The Host either, IMO

                • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:49 PM #

It’s a very, very edge of your seat type thing–especially since it’s all about survival. Matched by Ally Condie is another good one if you like that sort of thing.

            • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:47 PM #

Suzanne Collins, there is a trilogy.

  15. lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:26 PM #

Here’s a question for everyone. Do you think that the state of the economy has contributed to this craziness? More people with free time??

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:28 PM #

I would think so, to an extent.

    • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 9:04 PM #

Yes!! More free time and a need for escape from reality. This happened in the late twenties early thirties right before and after the stock market crashed. During the depression people used the media to escape and this is where tabloid scandal was really popular. Also, gangsters were popular and the start of Hollywood Fauxmances.

      • lurker February 2, 2011 at 9:11 PM #

Oh help us, let’s hope its not a history repeat coming our way!

        • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 9:30 PM #

          Too late!!! LOL!

          • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:33 PM #

            that’s so true unfortunately.

  16. lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:37 PM #

There’s a big trend in high school related genres going on. HS musical, Twilight, Glee to name a few. Remember Grease was a big deal way back when. Vampire diaries is set in High school. Maybe this is the avenue to pursue in TV and movies?

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:43 PM #

I think though that everything is set in HS to be impressionable toward the youth of today.

  17. ozzie20 February 2, 2011 at 8:49 PM #

Dam. Seriously something is wrong with my computer today. I had this page open was refreshing quite often and only now do the posts show up! I could scream.

    • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 8:50 PM #

    • 4string February 2, 2011 at 8:50 PM #

      Whoo! Ozzie is here!!!

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 8:56 PM #

Hey Girl! About time — you need to overcome these technical challenges!!!

    • Open Book February 2, 2011 at 9:05 PM #

      Hi Ozzie!!

I thought maybe we got the time wrong for u.

      • ozzie20 February 2, 2011 at 10:04 PM #

Nope. I had to page open to remind myself and was checking on and off since midnight. No posts came up till nearly 2 hours later. It’s probably me, I’m constanly having technical problems and I never really know how to fix them fully. I’m going to try and fix it later on.

  18. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:03 PM #

Who tells KS its a good idea to audition for LL and SW? I mean honestly come on. She can’t handle Twilight. How in God’s name would she be able to handle anything bigger?

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 9:10 PM #

Hey the comments on that site are pretty funny.
I’m reading the article about Wonder woman.
      I’m cracking up.
Maybe this is my new comedy hour site.

  19. Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:21 PM #

I was just reading on the comic book site that Open Book shared that someone wants Superman to start from where L&C left off. While i like L&C for one reason and one reason only (Dean Cain) I found L&C to be very hokey.

    • lurker February 2, 2011 at 9:39 PM #

L&C was cute. I don’t know. Superman has been done so many times. Even Smallville. I really don’t know what they could do different?

      • Parisienne February 2, 2011 at 9:45 PM #

I don’t really know what could be done differently. Night Open Book!

  20. Open Book February 2, 2011 at 9:33 PM #

    Everyone!!

I’m out of here!!! Great talking to everyone. It’s been really fun tonight.

      Me too! Night then!

  22. Parisienne February 4, 2011 at 6:13 PM #

I don’t know anything about photoshopping but there needs to be some type of security put in place other than watermarking where people are not able to crop photos. especially of people working on set. i’ve just seen a photo of R/K that has been photo cropped to look like both are naked from the waist down. Such poor taste, sheep are grasping at straws.
