Leave Him Alone

14 Dec

By:  Parisienne

Why are people so infatuated with Robert Pattinson?  Personally, I don’t see the draw.  I have seen many of his interviews and he seems like a very kind, intelligent and shy individual.  In my opinion, I think people tend to forget he is a person as well.  He has emotions just like the rest of us.

Is it because the traits of Edward have been imposed onto him?  What is it about Rob that makes everyone lose his or her senses?  What does the knowledge of his personal life serve anyone besides him alone?  Does it pay your bills?  Put food on your table?  Keep a roof over your head?

What is it about Robert Pattinson that makes him irresistible?  In my opinion, it’s not him that makes him irresistible. Instead it is our perceptions and opinions that we as a public have projected onto him.

Please join us-Wednesday: December 15th 2010 at 7pm EST. There will be a live discussion on this topic.

Well I believe people are drawn to R because he comes off as very personable and respectful in interviews. He also appears to value his family and friends so this is another draw.

I think people seeing R as Edward is due to him being affiliated to K off screen.

  2. Lurker December 15, 2010 at 7:05 PM #

Well, I think people are projecting the character Edward onto Robert. None of us know his personally, so it’s diffcult to say he embodies the same character traits as the Edward character.

    • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:19 PM #

The truth is he should not have to respond about who or what he does off screen. Meaning his personal life should not be sold to market a film. However, I think huge boundaries were crossed for Twilight and R is living the consequences of that.

Many studios don’t resort to selling their talents personal life if they know they have spent the money to produce a good film. Like Titanic for example.

      • Lurker December 15, 2010 at 7:28 PM #

I know we all have discussed this issue, there have been a lot of boundaries crossed with Twilight. Rob is paying the prices of intrusion into his personal life from not only the studio but some of the fanatics. Fans haven’t learned proper boundaries on working movie sets either. Its just so out of control.

        • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:36 PM #

U are absolutely right it has gotten out of hand. However, fans are not like they use to be. I just think it’s a new time and fan’s can’t be handled or marketed to the same way studios and publicist did ten years ago.
Mainly, because fans have access to a lot more information than they did ten years ago.

          • kim December 15, 2010 at 7:46 PM #

Yes I agree. Celebrities today have to be able to handle the concept that fans

            1) have access to info on them 24/7
            2) can tell each other when they have seen a celebrity
            3) and just plan old needing info and wanting it now

  3. kim December 15, 2010 at 7:09 PM #

Well I can say on a person note, I do find him very personable. He seems very down to earth and humble. You don’t see those characteristics in celebrities these days especially at Rob’s age. He doesn’t seem to have the hey I’m a celebrity notice me.

I have to say I didn’t and don’t like Rob in the Twilight movies. I don’t know why I like his other films so much more. I didn’t realize he was Cedric in the Harry Potter films until after I saw him in Twilight, which I only watched to see what all of the hoopla was about. I then read the books and enjoyed them so much more than the movies.

I did really take notice of Rob until I saw him in an interview for Remember Me and he truly impressed me.

    • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:12 PM #

I have to agree with u. I like R’s role and acting in Remember Me much more than in Twilight. It always appears he’s holding back in the Twilight films.

      • kim December 15, 2010 at 7:16 PM #

Yes, exactly. Plus, I know I’m going to get slammed on this by some, he really doesn’t have much to act off of. In his other movies he has someone to give him something so he can give back.

      • Lurker December 15, 2010 at 7:16 PM #

I wonder if that’s because of his co-star?
Meaning, it’s easier to have a conversation with someone who is engaging and participates. I would assume that acting is similar type of exchange. You could feed off each other if there was that type of synergy.
One of you might be able to get where I’m going with that. I’ve never acted before but I can’t imagine it to be so drastically different when interacting with others.

        • kim December 15, 2010 at 7:22 PM #

Well, my acting is limited to high school plays, but yeah. What i remember you act off of each other to build a scene.

        • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:27 PM #

Oh! Being able to have a conversation with someone who gives back or who is responsive is everything. No one would want to be in any activity with someone where they have to do all the work.

So it helps if a person is able to give something instead of receive all the time. Have u ever been around someone who seems to suck the life out of u whenever u interact with them? I imagine this is how it would be if u had a co-star who is non-responsive or to self absorbed with their own performances.

          • Lurker December 15, 2010 at 8:00 PM #

Yes – it’s hard to be around people who suck the energy out of the air! That’s why i don’t want to filter my perception of Rob’s work on Twilight. I thought Remember Me was a great movie and he did a great job holding his own with Peirce Brosnan and Lena Olin and Chris Cooper. Can’t ask for an experience like that to learn from experienced actors. I expect more of the same from WFE.

            • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 8:07 PM #

So true, So true! I think Rob has a lot more talent than what people are giving him credit for. I think WFE will be interesting to see R in a different light. No pun intended. LOL!!!

              • kim December 15, 2010 at 8:13 PM #

I have to say I haven’t been this excited about a film in a very long time. I really can’t wait for this film (WFE).

Just saw the trailer on Entertainment Tonight and it doesn’t look like it will disappoint.

              • Lurker December 15, 2010 at 8:15 PM #

I think every career is similar. You hope that you learn along the way and you grow thru the help of people more experienced that yourself, who are decent and freely share. That’s what ideally happens when you choose a career. You can’t expect to know everything or be great at everything day 1. So each movie R will get better and learn more from those he acts with. They are all great experiences and it will be interesting to see his career progress and the choices he makes.

              • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:35 PM #

I agree. He does seem to have more talent then what people give him credit for. Do you think he feels very confident in himself? I think in the beginning he didn’t but he’s getting more confidence now.

          • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:38 PM #

Or have a partner who is not at all familar with their character. I was reading an article with the director of Eclipse and he said that K still didn’t understand Bella or how to play her.

  4. kim December 15, 2010 at 7:39 PM #

Yeah, I truly believe that fans of Twilight lost all boundaries and part of the blame should be shared by Summit and the director of the first movie.

From what I heard fans were welcomed on the set. So no boundaries were set up in the beginning.

    • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:56 PM #

I agree no boundaries were set up in the beginning and Summit and R/K have had to keep up the open invitation with fans. It’s a shame because I imagine know one thought Twilight would be so huge and popular. However, I think some more than others have milked this Robsten deal for all it’s worth.

      • Lurker December 15, 2010 at 8:06 PM #

Some more than others definitely have milked it. Maybe one thing will be helpful, people tend to have short attention spans. So once the hype is over, exposure can be limited. One would hope.

        • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 8:10 PM #

LOL! Yes, I agree and I hope so to.

  5. Open Book December 15, 2010 at 7:48 PM #

Oh! Another reason it is so obvious Summit is selling R/K personal life to sell Twilight. On the commentary for Eclipse, they teamed up R/K and separated them, so they had no other recourse but to interact with each other as oppose to talking to the audience about the film. U would think after all the fan threats and R/K saying they don’t wish to sell there personal life, Summit would respect that. Instead they could have teamed up Myers and Kristen and Godfrey and Rob for the commentary if they were not guilty of trying to market Robsten.

    • kim December 15, 2010 at 7:53 PM #

Good point. I haven’t heard the commentary, but I have heard about it. I hear that there is a lot of silence in parts, because they don’t have much to say.

Which goes back to not having much interaction between the two actors.

Yeah, I feel bad for Rob because he does seem like a private person. I think that his and his parent’s privacy were both taken away once again with the latest photo release of Rob with Kristen Stewart at the Pattinson home.

      • Open Book December 15, 2010 at 8:02 PM #

I heard about that, some photo from last Christmas or something?

I know there is a way to market a film to fans that don’t involve stunts.

        • kim December 15, 2010 at 8:11 PM #

Well maybe someone should tell Summit, because I have to say I felt really bad for not only Rob, but his parent’s because there privacy was invaded with that picture.

I have a great problem when fans, paps, or the media decide to include family members or especially children of the celebrities in their persuit of the celebrity. The family members or children didn’t sign a contract for this intrusion.

        I’ll be here tomorrow!

  7. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:16 PM #

I must say the reason why I wrote the article was because of the Christmas pic that was leaked.

    • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:17 PM #

I just felt it was in very poor taste. Whoever did that has no morals about them. IMO. To sell someone out like that who you know is trying to save his private life for himself is completely low.

      • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:21 PM #

Oh, I totally agree. The only thing though is since there was probably only a small number of people that would have had that type of picture, I’m sure Rob has made it known how he feels about it being released.

Yes, I agree with you totally though.

      • Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:22 PM #

I agree it was in very poor taste. Why do u think these pictures were released and by whom?

        • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:23 PM #

Did you see the pic Open Book?

          • Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:25 PM #

No! I only heard about it.

            • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:28 PM #

Would you like to see it? I can find it for you.

              • ozzie20 December 16, 2010 at 8:54 PM #

I agree, it was very low thing to do and I hope however did this knows it too. I hope they’re ashamed of themselves.

                • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:56 PM #

Come on Ozzie you know “they” are not ashamed, they are probably very proud of themselves because they are getting noticed.

                  • ozzie20 December 16, 2010 at 9:05 PM #

Yes and that is what annoys me! It backfire. To involve someone else’s family and their home is a low blow. My home is my sanctuary. If anyone were to do that to family and the only place I feel truly safe, they’d be out of my life at the soonest possible moment.

                    • kneon65 December 16, 2010 at 9:25 PM #

I totally agree. That was not very “respectful” but I really am not surprised considering the person or people I suspect that did this to Rob and his family.

  8. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:24 PM #

I think it was released by someone close to K. You can tell R DID NOT want to have his photo taken.

    • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:26 PM #

Personally, I think it was really really close to Kristen. Yeah, he didn’t look happy at all.

      • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:28 PM #

It could have been K herself. I wouldn’t put it past her. I remember an article where she said her brother has a FB page. She could have given it to her brother and her brother leaked it.

  9. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:25 PM #

I think it was released to play up Robsten. Telling fans look she’s at his house with his family.

    • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:28 PM #

Yeah I agree because there have been a lot of comments of her never being around his family and trying to show that they spent the holidays last year together. So a Robsten (prsten) move, especially releasing it right when WFE trailer was being released and Rob was getting a lot of press for WFE.

      • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:30 PM #

Of course because she has no merit of her own so she has to step on him.

        • Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:37 PM #

It’s funny…..MTV look like they were paid by K to ask her co-star Garret about what it was like to work with K in OTR yesterday. Hmmm! Reese volunteered info about R’s work ethic it did not look like cohersion or like she was paid.

          • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:40 PM #

Did you see the article where Reese supposedly mentions that K is R’s girlfriend but if you watch the video for the article she never even mentions K.

          • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:40 PM #

yeah, I agree. Reese, didn’t look like she was asked to do it for Rob. I haven’t seen the Mtv interview with Garret, but I’m not surprised. I know that some places added a comment about Kristen into Reese interview. You can tell the written article was add to because there were videos of the interview and no mention of Kristen.

            • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:43 PM #

My question is this…….R is not going to be the “IT” guy forever. Why can’t they find someone else to link her to?

          • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:41 PM #

I don’t know if this is going to post twice but did you see the article for that video? Supposedly Reese said K is R’s girlfriend but she never even mentions K in the vid.

            • Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:47 PM #

I saw the article and the video. I think people will continue to milk this story until BD finally comes out. Especially if people are using it to get attention for their careers. It’s Sad!!!

    • Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:30 PM #

This has gotten so out if hand. I just think u can’t trust anyone especially if your in R’s situation. I’m sure he’s trying his hardest to be careful but u have these idiots who try and capitalize on his success. Hopefully, people will get tired of trying to get the scoop on his personal life and just appreciate his work.

      • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:33 PM #

I agree. Although I don’t think it will die down until the end of BD.

        • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:36 PM #

          Yeah, sadly I agree.

  10. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:31 PM #

I felt bad for his parents. They were kind of shoved in there you know. Sort of like a wedding pic almost. except the groom looked really really pissed. LOL

  11. Open Book December 16, 2010 at 8:43 PM #

I honestly believe if K is spending all her free time trying to get ahead using Robsten than she’s not using it affectively. It’s really apparent from Eclipse how she’s spending her free time and it’s not on acting.

    • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:46 PM #

HAHAHAHa I agree, she really needs to learn how to show a little more emotion in her work, to start with.

    • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:47 PM #

LOL No its not furthering her career that’s for sure.

  12. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:48 PM #

She doesn’t seem to care if she prepares for her character or not.

  14. Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:50 PM #

We all know Robsten is a gimmick that isn’t effectively used well. Do you think if the Summit people had to do it all over again they would have done it differently?

    • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:50 PM #

Meaning they would have put more into the film and not counted on their actors personal lives or making things up about them?

      • Parisienne December 16, 2010 at 8:52 PM #

        Kim,

If you are still here i’m going to go too. Have a good night.

          Ok night.

      • kim December 16, 2010 at 8:54 PM #

No. I think Summit is not upset about how this turned out at all. They are making a ton of money on these two young actors personal lives.
